Austin marble and granite reviews

At CountertopSmart, we advise that you consult your preferred fabricator for additional instruction on maintenance and care to keep your countertops looking their best. The Texas Capital building is famously built from Texas Pink and Sunset Red granite sourced from the Granite Mountain quarries just outside of Marble Falls— over train cars of it, in fact.

Granite is a high density, weather and abrasion resistant stone formed from volcanic magma. A siliceous stone, granite is comprised of quartz and feldspar and is most often found in hues of pink, grey, black and white. With over 10, different types of granite surfacing material available, your design options are virtually inexhaustible.

Granite is most often sealed with water or solvent based impregnating sealers designed to penetrate the surface of the stone and fill the pores with hydrophobic, water repelling protection. As with all natural stone, acidic or abrasive cleaners can damage the stone so make sure to use only manufacturer recommended brands and avoid leaving acidic foods and liquids on the surface to reduce the risk of etching.

The use of quartzite as a countertop surface has grown exponentially more popular in the past ten years. Quartzite is most often found in tones of grey, white, and pink but mineral deposits that create the highly recognizable linear veining of quartzite can be found across the color spectrum. In Austin, as in most of the country, quartzite countertops come at a steep price. Whether you live in Round Rock, Buda, Bastrop or Dripping Springs, consider using this sophisticated, tough as Texas, top on your next countertop project— CountertopSmart will keep it in your budget!

Like slate and soapstone, quartzite is a siliceous stone that is formed over millions of years as sand is changed to stone through the metamorphic process of intense pressure and heat. Mineral deposits that form in the canals of quartzite provide a linear or fractured veining and in many instances, quartzite can possess the appearance of layered, translucent glass.

Consider using an impregnating sealer or topical stone sealer depending on the sheen level that best suits your project. As with all natural stone, quartzite is porous and leaving acidic foods or liquids in contact with the countertop surface can cause etching over time.

Only use gentle, non-solvent based cleaners or old fashioned warm water and soap. These non-porous surfaces are popular for their durability and range of aesthetics, often created to replicate popular types of natural stone in addition to offering sleek, ultra-modern styles in every color under the sun.

In the last 10 years, the popularity of quartz countertops has soared and though still playing second-fiddle to granite in terms of overall market share, quartz is the fastest growing countertop surfacing product in the world. CountertopSmart has thousands of quartz options to choose from all located right here in the City of the Violet Crown.

My family and I walked into the showroom, and were not greeted at all. We spent 10 — 15 minutes walking around examining tile samples and quartz samples. Still, no one greeted us or offered any help. In the meantime, other customers received greetings. I dislike being pestered while I shop, but I do expect a smile and a greeting when I enter.

Call me old fashioned. When we were ready to go out to the yard, I stepped up to the desk with the clear look of a customer wanting assistance. All three employees were focused on a single customer, and none of them could be bothered to tear herself away to ask what I needed. I was told how to get to each yard and how inventory is organized.

We walked around the yards, getting excited about what we could do with the various materials and colors. Upon returning to the showroom, I spotted a customer and his small child step into a golf cart and zoom over to the yard. At that point, I decided our experience was inexcusable, and that my remodeling dollars would be spent elsewhere.

Josh F. My initial reaction was that is was so far out of the city, well it is not and it is worth the not long and scenic drive. My girlfriend and I are remodeling a new house and were just not sure in what direction we wanted to go counter top wise, after all this is a pretty big decision. They taught us about the different types of natural stone and they really took their time with us asking us how we wanted our kitchen to function, look etc.

Michael S. This place is great. They had just what I was looking for; in and out with selection within an hour. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, know exactly where material is located in yard. Because I am redoing my kitchen I had an idea of what I was looking for before I even went out there. I had my guy call in advance to make sure the material was in stock and I went and put in on hold. Now, if your looking to shop and have someone hold your hand the entire time; you might have a different experience.

But if your looking for counter tops, know what your looking for, have the ability to think efficiently then I strongly recommend this place for new counters. Natasha C. My husband and I stumbled on this place while searching for marble and tile for our guest bathroom remodel. We figured it would be more convenient to work with a place a few miles away rather than go with our guts and stick with the same companies we used for our kitchen remodel last year… what a mistake.

The entire staff seemed to be too « busy» sitting around the front desk looking at their computers when we walked in. It took someone a good 5 minutes to even greet us. Once we found what we were looking for, the salesgirl prepared us a quote — never once leaving the comfort of her chair behind the counter.

It was our fault for not picking up on the unprofessionalism of this place from the get go, but we decided to place our order anyway. Turns out they had nothing in stock at the warehouse and we were told it would be about a week or two to receive our order. Part of our order arrived on time, but the remaining bulk of the order ended up being pushed back approximately two weeks from the original quoted timeframe. Never once did anyone call us with updates.

All in all, I would recommend avoiding this place if you want to save yourself a headache. Megan M. We had a pleasant experience here picking out a slab for our kitchen counter tops. The staff was very friendly and helpful— and even offered us a bottle of water while we were looking around the yard.
