Ambrose holds master's degrees in elementary education and educational administration from USC and also has earned an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Coastal Carolina University in Conway. Hargrave has 32 years of experience in public education, all in North Carolina. After receiving his bachelor's degree from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, in management information systems, he was a business education teacher for five years from at Alexander Central High School in Alexander County.

Next, he served nine years through as dean of students at the high school. The next five years Hargrave split between the high school and East Alexander Middle School as an assistant principal and principal. He was deputy superintendent in the district during his last five years there. He also holds a master's from Gardner-Webb in school administration and a doctorate from the university in educational leadership.

Next, she became assistant principal at the school for three years before becoming the school's principal for five years from The last nine years, Martin-Knox has served in district administration with the county school district.

Her posts have included assistant superintendent for middle schools and community superintendent. This year, Martin-Knox is the district's chief of school climate and safety.
